Series of works
25.5cm (height) x 18 cm (width) and all were done throughout 2025
These are just some of the many, many collages I have created, where for the past two (almost three!) years. I have been exploring how I can translate the floral aesthetic from collage into embroidery.
The idea behind this journey started from wanting to break out of the traditional way of portraying flowers.
My creative process starts with photographing flowers that I encounter in nature. I then break up the flower images with the scrap papers I have left-over, after cutting out the images of said flowers.
The collage entitled "Abstracted floral collage" (last row of images) is the only one to which I employed a slightly different technique. The papers I used, are actually scrap papers I collected during my work on various collages, which is why there is no background with flowers like you can see in the first two collages.
The work seen in the embroidery page, is in fact, various embroideries I have made when translating specific collages into embroidery.
