"Wave"

Acrylic paint and Indian ink on mixed media paper (natural white) 180gsm, 70.5cm (height) x 100.3cm (width), 18th February 2026

The aim behind the exercise was to translate various works (embroideries) I had made from the different units (SSP1 and SSP2 and translate them into a drawing and painting using materials like medium, thick and compressed charcoal, and acrylic paint.

I love the gestural, flowly feel this work has and love the colours and textures too.

To get the textures, I actually put many rubber bands around a roller and dipped it in acrylic paint. I love this techniques because the textures are random and are one of a kind!

"Explosion of flowers"

Acrylic paint on mixed media paper (natural white) 180gsm,  70.5cm (height) x 100.3cm (width), 26th February 2026

The idea behind this work was to draw inspiration from the shapes, marks, forms, and textures in my embroidery work, as well as Leelee Kimmel paintings.

There are actually two other attempts that I had done with this idea in mind, that I felt had not fully expressed my idea.

This is why I created one final version and I’m so so glad that I did! Everything I wanted the work to express, finally came through. I love its chaos, energy, rawness, and especially love its textures!

The close-up images, in particular, remind me of my embroidery pieces when they’re magnified.
